Food security, that’s what the Agriculture & Food program is all about. In 2050 we will have some ten billion mouths to feed worldwide, while we are already running up against planetary limits and there are shortages of appropriately skilled labor. How can we produce enough healthy food, in a sustainable and affordable way?
Autonomous cropping systems can help maintain food production by complementing and, in the future, even “taking over” the grower’s role. These intelligent systems, like today’s grower, can independently determine the status of crops and trees, as well as the timing and execution of interventions, such as pruning or harvesting.
